Imaginary fast food shop
Upon entering the exhibition, visitors encounter an installation in the first room inspired by a fast-food restaurant.
Within the space, impossible phenomena unfold: glitched human figures, a child floating in midair, and distorted hamburgers twisted into unnatural forms. These scenes disrupt the familiar logic of everyday reality. Fast-food chains provide the same taste and experience wherever they exist in the world. Their standardized environments resemble landscapes that have been copied and pasted across the globe, creating the sensation of being in the same place no matter where one is.
In this work, I introduce glitch-like distortions into this "copy-and-pasted world," creating subtle disruptions within an otherwise uniform reality. Like errors in a video game, these glitches reveal hidden structures and moments of dissonance that would normally remain invisible. By embedding surreal events within an ordinary and recognizable setting, the installation invites viewers to question the certainty of the "normal world" that we unconsciously accept as reality.

SUPER《Fiction》MARKET
Passing through the fast-food installation, visitors enter the second room, where I present an installation inspired by a supermarket.
Whenever I travel or conduct research abroad, I make a point of visiting a local supermarket to better understand the place. What I repeatedly encounter is a sense of uniformity—in the products, the displays, and the spatial organization that seems to be endlessly replicated from one city to another.
This work focuses on the supermarket, one of the most familiar spaces in our everyday lives, and imagines a fictional scenario: a supermarket where glitches and errors have occurred. Distorted products, disrupted displays, and impossible phenomena intervene within the space, introducing a sense of unease into the ordinary act of consumption. Like a system malfunction exposing its hidden mechanisms, these disruptions reveal the underlying structures and uncertainties concealed beneath the familiar landscapes we unconsciously take for granted.

Surfing the Internet to the Moon
Surfing the Internet to the Moonのインスタレーション作品と、対面にWindowsのモチーフで制作した小作品を展示した。
In the third room, I present the installation Surfing the Internet to the Moon, alongside a series of smaller works based on the motif of Windows, displayed on the opposite wall. The central installation is inspired by Kairu-kun, a mascot-like character from the Windows environment, and is constructed to evoke the form of a computer monitor. At its center is a hand-drawn moon rendered with a simple drawing application, from which the title Surfing the Internet to the Moon is derived. The far side of the moon—something we can never physically observe from Earth—is made visible here by placing the same image on both the front and back of the work. This gesture suggests an imagined journey to a place that remains physically inaccessible, yet can be reached through the limitless space of the internet. Throughout the installation, glitches and digital errors appear as recurring visual elements, evoking the instability and distortions inherent in digital environments. The background references the iconic rolling green hill from the default Windows wallpaper, where a familiar landscape from reality is transformed into a universally shared digital image. In doing so, the work blurs the boundary between the physical and the virtual.
Ultimately, Surfing the Internet to the Moon examines the relationship between the virtual spaces that exist within our screens and the reality through which we navigate the world.

LABO
The Iron Beads Lab is an interactive space where visitors are invited to engage directly with the material itself. They are free to handle the beads, arrange them on prepared templates, or sort them by color, experiencing the material through their own hands. Throughout the space, panels documenting the production process and archival video footage provide insight into the making of the works, allowing visitors to trace the ideas, decisions, and manual labor behind the finished pieces. The Iron Beads Lab functions not only as a place for viewing artworks, but also as a laboratory that makes the creative process visible. Here, the act of touching, experimenting with, and exploring the material becomes an integral part of the work's ongoing creation.

IMAGINARY FARM
At the entrance of Chofu City Cultural Hall Tazukuri, I presented IMAGINARY FARM.
Originally created for Parallel Museum 2023 in Hokkaido, this installation explores the idea of introducing a fictional farm into an everyday public space. Life-sized animals, including cows and chickens, are placed throughout the site, each meticulously constructed from iron beads. At first glance, these figures resemble flat panels or digital images. However, they are composed of countless individual beads assembled one by one, creating a structure that recalls the logic of pixels. Emerging within a familiar real-world environment, the imaginary farm possesses the visual texture of a digital image while maintaining the undeniable physical presence of a material object. By bringing together the ordinary and the imaginary, the digital and the tangible, IMAGINARY FARM presents a landscape in which the boundaries between these seemingly opposing realms become increasingly ambiguous.

Exhibition Title: Reality and Error
Year: 2025
Venue: Chofu City Cultural Hall Tazukuri, Tokyo, Japan
Photography: Ujin Matsuo
Concept:
This exhibition is composed as a sequence of distinct environments that unfold as visitors move from one room to the next. By reconfiguring a selection of my previous installation works, each space presents a different landscape and mode of experience.
The progression through the exhibition evokes the sensation of surfing the internet, where one scene continuously gives way to another through an endless flow of images and spaces.
Each installation has been partially restructured in response to the architecture of Chofu City Cultural Hall Tazukuri, creating new relationships between the works and their surrounding environment. Rather than presenting each work as an independent piece, the exhibition is conceived as a single immersive experience. Through this spatial composition, the exhibition reveals the multidimensional nature of my artistic practice, allowing the individual works to resonate as parts of a larger interconnected world.
